My Weird Trick To Control Oily Skin

I’ve had oily skin all of my life

Which is why I have had acne since I was in the fourth grade (yikes!). When I got older, I fell in love with makeup products, but by the end of the day my foundation always looked like a shiny mess because of the excess oil. After researching countless home remedies, I finally found one that worked for me and now I want to share it with you!

My secret weapon for combating oily skin is… Milk of Magnesia!

Milk of Magnesia is a laxative, but it has drying properties that help it absorb the oil from the skin. Some other benefits include toning the skin, drying out pimples, shrinking pores, and evening out your complexion. I bought a bottle of it at the 99 cent store, but you could easily find it at any local drug store. I personally use it as a cheap makeup primer underneath my foundation, but others have used it as a facial mask and as an acne spot treatment. Here’s how to properly use all three methods.

Makeup Primer

1.      Cleanse your face. Side note: If you have dry skin you may want to put a light layer of moisturize on after cleansing your face.

2.      Dip a cotton ball in the Milk of Magnesia and apply a thin layer across your face.

3.      Allow it to fully dry.

4.      Apply makeup as usual.

Facial Mask

1.      Cleanse your face.

2.      Apply a thick layer of Milk of Magnesia on your skin with a cotton ball or your fingers.

3.      Relax for 15 to 20 minutes or until the mask fully dries.

4.      Rinse off the mask and enjoy.

Acne Treatment

1.      Cleanse your face.

2.       Apply a layer of Milk of Magnesia on your pimple.

3.      Let it dry and leave it on overnight.

4.      Rinse off and wake up to a smaller pimple!

Milk of Magnesia works best for those with oilier skin and tends to irritate people with drier skin types. This inexpensive life hack helped drastically change my makeup routine and I hope it can do the same for you!
